Zentangle Bijou Unveiled!
Zentangle Bijou was just unveiled to the public by Zentangle.com. So what is a Bijou? Bijou in French means ‘jewel.’ The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Bijou as a small dainty usually ornamental piece of delicate workmanship, and as something elegant, or highly prized. Want to know more?
Bijou is several things, first it is an official logo of Zentangle that looks like a darling, small, stylized snail. Bijou is also a brand new size Zentangle Tile that is about 2″ square. The Bijou Tile is made of the same exceptional Fabriano Tiepolo printmaking paper as used for the original 3.5″ square Zentangle Tiles. Zentangle Bijou Tiles are available from your CZT or directly from Zentangle.com.
Bijou Tiles come in a small metal box with about 55 tiles per tin. Plus there is a bonus! Each tin contains about 3 “Bijouisms.” Bijouisms are short phrases that are associated with creating in the Zentangle way. There are 24 official Bijouisms so far that convey some of the fundamental Zentangle gentle reminders.
I was blessed to be at the private CZT unveiling of Bijou in June 2014 and have had a chance to work with the tiles extensively. So…

Bijou’s Videos

Here is a darling training video featuring Bijou the snail as he creates lovely Zentangle Tiles. Maria and Rick made it clear that Bijou is not female or male… after all, snails are both genders. ;-), however, the same reliable sources say that Bijou prefers to be referred to as he rather than the more complicated he/she.
You don’t believe me? Here’s another YouTube video with Bijou and his New Tiles.
